Aquaponics is an important part of the Emuvale farm plan. The goal is a protected growing system that combines fish, water and productive plant beds, giving us a practical way to grow fresh produce through more of the year.
The next stage
The planned hothouse brings together aquaponics systems, hydronic heating and a protected environment. It is designed as a working production space first, while also giving us somewhere to demonstrate and document how the systems operate.
Different ways to grow
The project draws on several aquaponic bed styles, including ebb-and-flow media beds, floating raft or deep-water culture beds, and solids-based growing beds. Each has a different role and gives us more flexibility across crops and seasons.

Protected growing
